Day 71: the weirdest show I've ever seen
Yesterday I saw the insaniest, the weirdes and the most amazing show in my life... I attach letter to my friend.
"Hi,
as I mentioned, yesterday something incredible happened. Incredible for me, guess that most of the people would just pass it by. I was walking among the tiny, low buildings district and all of the sudden I heard kitschy korean disco, like from 80's. I went towards these lively, loud sounds and at the spot my jaw dropped, all I could do was to sit and take out ma camera.
That was the weirdest show I have ever seen: two men and woman dressed in bizarre clothes, performing drum and sing show to korean 80's hits. A front man was dressed in a sexy dress, fishnet tights, rubber sneakers, he had wig on his head and clownish make up. The second guy (drummer) also had make up and DIY cut up suit made of patches. And the woman, with her fantastic drum playing manner, dressed in two colorful skirts and pink, traditional korean jacket and a red lamp shade that completed her outfit. The front man greeted me, asked where I am from, how old I am, classic questions. Every two song they were exchanging their music instruments, bringing new ones like huge, iron scissors.
I was just sitting and taking pictures, surrounded with elderly ladies. They encouraged me to clap, lady from near shop brought us rice cakes, I treated them rice waffles and lamp shade woman treated us something like meringue. People and cars were passing us by, some of them stopped for a while. I felt I'm not foreigner anymore, I'm just part of this odd spectacle.
Between songs and dance, man dressed in female outfit talked a bit, even showed us his briefs.... red briefs with white hearts and blue padlock stuck to...to the briefs I think. Yeah, he was totally insane from the very beginning to the end. I spent there over an hour, couldn't divert my eyes from this amazing show I witnessed. They were performing great spectacle, speaking to the audience, making fools of them.
Maybe I can't render exactly how great was this weird show, maybe when I develop photos, you will have a better look.
Oh, it wasn't the end of this usual-unusual day, shortly after I walked to market area, went in to secondhand shop and I heard well-known melody.. Italo disco melody, this voice... no can't be.... But yes, it was Danuta Lato! (if you don't remember - here she is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYF5JyRjvbo). Danuta's song in Korea. In Korean market. Couldn't be better!
I suppose that's all. Photos will come soon!"
