Hitchhike cargo train
After short absence in Prague I'm finally back. First thought that came to my mind after I had got off from a train was: zas bude klídek! Which literally means 'finally I'm gonna have some rest' ^__^ Whenever I go to my hometown (Wrocław) I've got hundred errands to run (especially or rather mostly at my uni), wanna meet as many friends as I can and simply I’m busy with everything and with myself.
In addition this time a good friend of mine went with me and I must admit it's really cool to show people with whom you are friend with your hometown from no-guidebook side. So I took him for a long walk through quarters which have suffered the most during second world war. It's amazing that these buildings can tell you history just by their present look. Lots of buildings in Wrocław carry stigmas from the past: holes after bullets in facades, naked tenements without plaster on them, german signs on the walls and most of them were (and actually still are!) true masterpieces of art nouveau or neoclassicism architecture style. I admit I’m kind of local patriot but in the same I can’t find myself in Wrocław anymore, what’s more I can’t imagine that I’m going back there for longer period of time...
Yesterday something awesome happened on our way back from Poland. Apparently we had decided to use train instead of hitchhike and our train arrived late to the border and thus we had to wait at least one hour for another train. So we got off in Lichkov with a plan to wait in local cafeteria. All of the sudden a guy with whom we travelled in a train from Międzylesie to Lichkov offered to give us a lift to Ústí nad Orlicí in a... cargo train! Just like that, we didn’t even ask for a favour and he came out with this proposition. Of course we went for it and had not only unusual hitchhike but also a chance to travel by cargo. That was super-űber-cool and thanks to random motorman we caught express train from Ústí n. O to Prague. Looking forward to such unexpected hitchhike adventures!
Few pics from my hometown:
Zwierzyniecki bridge - stunning example of art nouveau in use

Artwork on the top of tenemant at Gruwaldzka st

Old lamp in so-called Jewish quarter

Such staircase is very common in Wrocław

Building called "Golden shell" - now it's seat of one of banks (Wita Stwosza st)

German signs at one of the buildings (Księcia Witolda st)

Abandoned building at Kurkowa st

I always found this factory building fascinating. From my early childhood till now

P.S. Apparently there are/were some straightedgers in my quarter. I passed this inscription so many times and finally NOTICED the meaning of it.
